water testing
Water testing of exterior wall systems is
provided in accordance with the following industry guidelines:
|
AAMA 501 |
"Methods of Test for Exterior Walls" |
|
AAMA 501.1 |
"Standard Test Method for Exterior Windows, Curtain Walls and Doors for
Water Penetration Using Dynamic Pressure" |
|
AAMA 501.2 |
"Field Check of Metal Storefronts, Curtain Walls, and Sloped Glazing
Systems for Water Leakage" |
|
AAMA 502 |
"Specification for Field Testing of Windows and Sliding Glass Doors" |
|
AAMA 503 |
"Specification for Field Testing of Metal Store Fronts, Curtain Walls
and Sloped Glazing Systems" |
|
ASTM E 547 |
"Standard Test for Water Penetration of Exterior Windows, Curtain Walls
and Doors by Cyclic Static Air Pressure Differential" |
|
ASTM E 1105 |
"Standard Test Method for Field Determination of Water Penetration of
Installed Exterior Windows, Curtain Walls, and Doors by Uniform Cyclic
Static Air Pressure Difference" |

osha compliance testing
Services are
provided in the review and testing of the power platform rigging and rooftop
tie-back system utilized for exterior building maintenance to determine
compliance with the safety requirements as outlined in the following
specifications:
| ANSI A39.1 |
Safety Requirements for Window
Cleaning |
| ANSI A92.3 |
Manually-Propelled Elevating Work
Platforms |
| ANSI A120.1 |
Powered Platforms for Building
Maintenance |
| ANSI Z359 |
Standards for Fall Protection |
| ANSI A120.1-1992 |
Safety Requirements for Power
Platforms for Building Maintenance |
| OSHA Regulations Subpart "F"/1910.66 |

stone anchor testing
| ASTM E 488 |
"Strength of Post
Installed/Cast-in-Place Anchors in Concrete / Masonry Elements |
| ASTM E 754 |
"Pull-out Resistance of Ties/Anchors
Embedded in Masonry/Mortar Joints" |
| ASTM C 1354 |
"Standard Test Method for Strength of
Individual Stone Anchorages in Dimension Stone" |

COATING THICKNESS TESTING
Architectural coatings are quality controlled by performing Dry Film
Thickness (DFT) measurements using electronic
instrumentation such as a
Elcometer 456 Coating thickness gauge. NACE
protocol is also followed by performing a
Pull off Strength
adhesion test to verify it complies
with manufacturers warranty requirements.
| ASTM D 4138: “Standard Test Methods
for Measurement of Dry Film Thickness of Protective Coating Systems by
Destructive Means” |
| ASTM D 6132: “Standard
Test Method for Nondestructive Measurement of Dry Film Thickness of
Applied Organic Coatings Using an Ultrasonic Gage |

FROST POINT TESTING
This field test method is employed to obtain an
estimated remaining life of Insulated Glass Units (IGU). The test is typically
performed on buildings between 10 and 20 years old.
| ASTM E 576-88 |
"Test Method for Frost Point of Sealed IGU in the
Vertical Position" |

MOISTURE TESTING
ASTM
D4444-92 "Standard Test Methods for Use and Calibration of Hand-Held
Moisture Meters"
Stone & Glazing Consulting can perform moisture
testing in wall cavities to determine the amount of moisture inside the
cavity. |
